Federer to meet Nadal in the final!

The second semifinal of the Gentlemen's singles was played between the muscles of Mallorca- Rafael Nadal and Rainer Schuettler of Germany. the finalist from the last 2 years is in terrific form this time around and looks like he'll end Federer's run for sure. The Swiss ace's plans for winning a record 6th straight wimbledon crown looks in jeopardy now with Rafa in such fine form. Schuettler who was obviously tired after his epic quarterfinal match has played 6 hours more tennis than Rafa before their clash and ran out of steam just at the wrong time to hand Nadal a straight sets victory. Final score: 6-1 7-6 6-4.

Safin finds Fedex too hot to handle!

Roger Federer proved why he is the world #1 and king of grass. Federer just outclassed his inform opponent Marat Safin in all departments of the game. He was just too good for safin and began to dominate from the beginning itself. Roger won the first set 6-3. The embarrasment was too much for the Russian. He gave it a fight in the 2nd set and forced it to a tie breaker in which Federer prevailed. The third set was again won by the swiss master which completed the victory in straight sets. Final score: 6-3 7-6 6-4.

DECEMBER 2004 TSUNAMI FACTS

I happened to see these facts somewhere. Really huge magnitude. check it out 4 yourself.

Released energy equivalent to 9,560 gigatons of TNT equivalent (550 million times that of Hiroshima Atomic bomb), or about 370 years of energy used in the United States in 2005 killing more than 225,000 people in eleven countries.

Waves up to 30 meters (100 feet). Average overhead roads we see on the road have 5 meter clearance.

Magnitude of between 9.1 and 9.3 recorded on a seismograph.

It caused the entire planet to vibrate as much as 1 cm, shortened the length of a day by 2.68 microseconds, caused the Earth to minutely "wobble" on its axis by up to 2.5 cm and triggered other earthquakes as far away as Alaska.

In deep ocean water, tsunami waves form only a small hump, barely noticeable and harmless, which generally travels at a very high speed of 500 to 1,000 km/h ; in shallow water near coastlines, a tsunami slows down to only tens of kilometres an hour but in doing so forms large destructive waves.

Tsunami was noticed as far as Struisbaai in South Africa, some 8,500 km (5,300 mi) away, where a 1.5 m high tide was observed.

In the minutes preceding a tsunami strike, the sea often recedes temporarily from the coast. Around the Indian Ocean, this rare sight reportedly induced people, especially children, to visit the coast to investigate and collect stranded fish on as much as 2.5 km of exposed beach, with fatal results.

A King-size breakfast

Would you like to shed those extra pounds? Well, allyou need to do is start eating a big breakfast, according to a new study.
The study, conducted by Dr. Daniela Jakubowicz fron Virginia Commonwealth University, found that women who eat half their daily calories first thing in the morning lose more weight in the morning lose more weight in the long term than those who start the day with a small breakfast.
Jakubowicz reported that the big breakfasters said they felt less hungry, particularly in the mornings.
"Most weight loss studies have determined that a very low carb diet is not a good method to reduce weight," BBC quoted her as saying. "It exacerbates the craving for carbohydrates and slows metabolism- as a result after a short period of weight loss, there is a quick return to obesity."
She also added that the bigger breakfast helped by making people fuller during the day, and was healthier, because it allowed more fibre and fruit to be included.

Today marks the death of the Windows XP. Microsoft will stop selling the XP version to retailers and PC manufacturers from today. They have been asked to stop preloading the software on their products from this date. agony FOR germany

German captain Michael Ballack wears a dejected look after his side's defeat to Spain in the euro finals. This is just not Ballack's year as his club side Chelsea lost the premiership title and the Champions league title to Man utd!

ECSTASY for SPAIN

Spain's #1 Iker Casillas led their team to a sensational win over Germany in the finals of the euro 08 championships at the Ernst Happel Stadion on sunday. In the process he became the first goalie to lift the trophy. It also ended a miserable 44 years without a single trophy for Spain.

El Nino-STANDING TALL

Cometh the hour! Cometh the man! EL Nino scores Spain's only goal of the final against Jens Lehman of Germany as Philipp Lahm watches helplessly!

UNITED we STAND! divided WE fall!

Spain have realized at last that UNITY is the key to success. They proved it last nite with a sterling display against Germany. There were many controversies within the team which led to their downfall and them getting the tag of the greatest UNDERACHIEVERS in world football. But this tournament was no surprise either at the start with the controversy of leaving Raul behind and the public spat the coach had with him. Even during the course of the tournament there were misunderstandings between a few players and the coach. But credit must be given to Luis Aragones, who at 69 not only managed to take the team to the final but also ended it's silverware drought. This was the country's major tournament victory in 44 years. They thoroughly deserved it!

SAFIN express reaches round 4!

Marat Safin has reached round 4 of this year's wimbledon championships with a 7-6 3-6 7-6 6-4 victory over Andreas Seppi of Italy. Safin's good form in this year's championships is surprising because his aversion to grass is legendary. He had also eliminated one of the title prospects Novak Djokovic in the previous round. Watch out Federer! you might get run over by the Safin express.
